PCI Design Awards Program Overview

We are excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the PCI Design Awards. This long-standing program recognizes design excellence and construction quality using precast concrete.

Throughout its 50-year history, the PCI Design Awards program has helped the design and construction community innovate and advance by showcasing ideas that push the envelope, overcome challenges, and improve upon existing concepts. The program demonstrates how designers are continuing to utilize precast/prestressed concrete components to achieve sustainable, more cost-effective, aesthetically-pleasing, and quickly-constructed projects. Included among the winning building entries are commercial buildings, a retail/mixed use project, parking structures, sports facilities, public/institutional buildings, higher education developments, healthcare buildings, multi-family homes, hotels, and retirement facilities.

Any structure in the United States, Canada, or Mexico completed in the past three years (based on the time of judging) that is substantially constructed using precast concrete manufactured in a PCI-Certified of CPCI-Certified plant was eligible for the 2012 awards. The entries were judged by independent juries of industry experts who considered creativity and ingenuity in the use of precast concrete to acheive aestheitc expression, function, economy, and sustainability; and recognized excellence in deisgn, engineering, manufacturing, and erecting.
